Biography
Alma Hanlon first drew breath on 30 April 1890 amid the boardwalks and salt air of New Jersey. Within a few fast years she had stepped from local stages to the flickering new world of cinema, leaving three 1917 one-reel fingerprints on history: the racing melodrama *The Whip*, the whodunit *The Great Bradley Mystery*, and the shadow-laden *The Mystic Hour*. Off-screen she exchanged vows first with journalist Louis Myll and later with press agent Walter J. Kingsley. Fifty-eight summers after her screen debut, she closed her eyes for the last time on 26 October 1977 in Monterey, California, where the Pacific tide replaced the spotlight.
