Biography

Berlin, 8 April 1868: the city lights up for the first time for Anna Müller-Lincke. By 1916 she is steering the camera as both actress and producer on *Traue nie dem blossen Schein*, schooling audiences to trust appearances less. Fourteen years later she reappears in the talkie era, first with *Marriage in Name Only* (1930), then coaxing romance into clarity in *Love Must Be Understood* (1933). Off-screen she shares her life—and her name—with composer Paul Lincke. The curtain falls on 24 January 1935, back in the city where her story began.
