Biography
Born in 1873, Arsenii Bibikov spent half a century straddling the footlights and the flickering beginnings of Russian cinema. Audiences first saw him lose himself in Dostoevsky’s tortured Prince Myshkin in the 1910 screen version of *The Idiot*; five years later he stepped into modernity’s unease with *Children of the Era*, and in 1918 he headed for the woods to unravel a deadly quarrel in *Drama of the Hunt*. Off-screen, the actor shared his life with fellow performer Varvara Vladimirovna Pashchenko-Bibikova. His final curtain fell in 1927.
