Biography
Philadelphia greeted Barney Gilmore on 27 March 1865, and from that day forward the city could never quite keep him. He grew into a wiry storyteller who parlayed street-corner wit into silent-era stardom, scripting and starring in the gold-rush cliffhanger *The Fight for Millions* (1913), the three-card-con thriller *The Game of Three* (1915), and the rollicking Irish-American romp *Kelly from the Emerald Isle* (1913). Off-screen he swapped scripts for vows with Mina B. Long, their marriage a private reel running parallel to his public adventures. Los Angeles claimed him last on 19 April 1949, closing the curtain on a life that had already moved from gas-lamp footlights to flickering projector beams.
