Biography

"The life of Bob Fleming began in Picton, Ontario, Canada, the son of Robert J. Fleming and Janet Ruthven Fleming. He shared his early years with at least one sister, affectionately known as 'Doll,' and later became an uncle to Roderick Fleming. A significant shift occurred in his youth when his family relocated to a cattle ranch in Iliad, Montana, near Big Sandy, where he honed his skills. An early-life gunshot wound to the foot left him with a subtle limp, a circumstance that prevented him from military service, yet it did nothing to hinder his exceptional prowess as a horseman. Fleming's path also intersected with a monumental moment in history; he was present in San Francisco during the catastrophic 1905 earthquake. By 1914, his remarkable equestrian abilities naturally drew him to the nascent world of Western films, where he began his acting career. His personal life flourished around 1915 with his marriage to Mary Elizabeth Van Dusen, and their family expanded on September 14, 1919, with the birth of their daughter, Marian Patricia Fleming."
