Carmen Villasán stepped before the camera when Spanish cinema was still inventing itself, leaving her silhouette on three of its earliest shadows: 1914’s La intrusa, the 1915 heartbreak of Pacto de lágrimas, and the 1918 epic La España trágica o Tierra de sangre.
