Biography
A son of Majorca, Victoria—born 4 April 1864—Charles Keegan stepped from the goldfields’ dust into the glow of footlights and film-stock. Audiences first felt his pulse in 1919’s The Sentimental Bloke, later shivered at 1924’s Fisher’s Ghost, and finally laughed along with 1934’s Strike Me Lucky. Four decades of performances later, the curtain fell for good in Sydney on 16 August 1944.
