Biography
A Manhattan spring delivered Dolly Larkin on 19 April 1889, and before the city stopped buzzing she had already stepped in front of cameras, giving Black Beauty its first pulse in 1913, shattering The Broken Barrier the next year, and vanishing into The Labyrinth by 1915. Off-screen she claimed the name—and heart—of fellow performer George Larkin. Eighty-seven winters later, in December 1976, she took her final bow in Williston Park, New York, closing the curtain on a life that had flickered brightly through the silent era.
