Biography
Hailing from the South Yorkshire market town of Doncaster, Edward Lingard entered the world on 13 October 1866. A veteran of the early silver screen, Lingard carved out a notable presence in the silent film era, delivering dramatic performances in the 1914 production Through the Valley of Shadows and the 1915 features As Ye Repent and Alone in London. After a life spent contributing to the dawn of British cinema, he passed away in Manchester during the autumn of 1934.
