Biography
Born in Copenhagen on 15 June 1869, Elna From stepped onto the Danish silent screen when movies were still learning to speak. Between blinking title cards, she gave life to Elskovsbarnet’s tangled hearts (1914), outwitted fate on Dødsklippen’s jagged cliffs (1913), and stirred laughter as the smitten Gullaschbaron (1917). Off-set she shaped stories with her pen, trading footlights for ink-stained pages. She took her final curtain call on 5 July 1943, leaving the projectors of Nordisk to spin without her.
