Biography
September 1857 found Emile La Croix drawing his first breath amid the vineyards and cathedrals of France. Three decades later he stepped behind the camera, conjuring biblical shimmer in Joseph and His Coat of Many Colors (1914), chasing slapstick through the jazz-age fable A Fool and His Money (1920), and stoking wartime nerves with the pulsing serial The Yellow Menace (1916).
