Biography

A Cleveland winter welcomed Eugene Walter on 27 November 1874, and from that Ohio chill he grew into a restless storyteller who split his time between ink and footlights. Silent-era audiences first noticed him in 1918’s *The Knife*, returned for his wounded charmer in 1919’s *Sealed Hearts*, and caught his last screen whirl as the slick schemer of 1936’s *Woman Trap*. Between curtain calls he swapped vows first with Mary Kissel, later with leading lady Charlotte Walker, proving life could imitate Broadway drama. The California sun finally claimed him on 26 September 1941, but the reels still spin, keeping Walter’s flicker alive in Hollywood’s eternal twilight.
