Biography
Frank Evans entered the world in 1849, somewhere amid the expanding American frontier. Thirty-five summers later he stepped before the new flickering cameras, lending his weathered face to one-reel stories that crackled in nickelodeons. Audiences of 1909 met him in the grief-laden reels of His Lost Love; the following year they saw him navigate marital chaos in both His Wife's Sweethearts and Winning Back His Love. After the klieg lights dimmed he settled in Washington, D.C., where he died on 11 March 1934, carrying the quiet pride of having helped shape an art form still learning to speak.
