Biography
A St. Louis Valentine’s-Day baby of 1874, Frank Hamilton traded the Mississippi’s muddy banks for the flicker of silent-film arc lights. Within two whirlwind years he stepped before the camera as the world’s first cinema Sherlock Holmes, then parried through the courtroom drama *On Trial* and barked his way into the carnival romance *The Barker*, sealing 1917 as his year on the marquees.
