Biography
A century before streaming queues, Fred Loomis sprinted through 1912 like a man late for three appointments. Between February and October he dodged wolves in a shadow-drenched den, escorted a banker’s frantic heir through forged signatures and heartbreak, then smuggled a shackled sibling past prison gates—all without leaving the flickering embrace of a nickelodeon screen. Three single-reel tales, three lightning bolts from Edison’s Bronx studio, and Loomis—neither hero nor villain, but the restless face that sold the illusion—vanished as quickly as the last frame dissolved to black.
