Biography
Frederic Richard Sullivan, known affectionately within his family as 'Dickie,' forged a distinctive path in the entertainment world, a venture he notably shared with just one other relative: his illustrious uncle, Sir Arthur Sullivan of Gilbert & Sullivan fame. Born to Frederic Thomas Sullivan (1837-1877), Sir Arthur's elder brother, young Frederic's life took a poignant turn with his father's passing in 1877. In the wake of this loss, Sir Arthur generously stepped in, providing crucial support to his brother's widow and helping to raise their eight children, including the future actor. Embracing the theatrical legacy, Frederic Richard Sullivan embarked on a career as a movie actor, further cementing his family's connection to the stage. He married Kate Webb in 1902.
