Biography
In 1915, two shadows flickered across Russia’s newborn cinema screens—both stitched from the same reel—bearing the signature of G. Grigoryev. That year he unveiled Skalpirovannyy trup, a corpse with its scalp peeled back like a dark envelope, then immediately followed it with Doch isterzannoy Pol'shi, the anguished daughter of a tormented Poland. One filmmaker, two nightmares, one explosive season: Grigoryev claimed 1915 as his own and then slipped back into the dark.
