Biography
A November child of 1887, George Larkin first drew breath amid the clatter of Manhattan and would spend most of his sixty-one years keeping that city’s rhythms alive on-screen. Between knockabout silent serials he dashed off scenarios, penning cliff-hangers such as The Lurking Peril (1919) before trading the typewriter for greasepaint to star in The Apache Dancer and The Way of the Transgressor (both 1923). Off-camera he twice chose leading ladies for life: first Ollie Kirby, later Dolly Larkin. His personal curtain fell back where it began, on 27 March 1946, leaving the lights of Broadway and Times Square to remember one of their own.
