A fog-drenched morning in San Francisco greeted George Pauncefort on 24 November 1869, the opening scene of a life that would later flicker across silent-era screens. Between 1915 and 1920 he slipped into other skins—sparring through The Running Fight, chasing redemption in Dawn, and unlocking political intrigue in The Key to Power—earning recognition as an actor capable of saying everything without uttering a word.
