Howard Davies

Biography

Liverpool delivered Howard Davies to the world on 18 May 1879, and from that smoky port city he sailed—at least in name—toward the footlights and flickering screens of the early 20th century. Audiences of the nickelodeon era first spotted him in Uncle Bill (1912), caught him again flirting with political farce in Madame la Presidente (1916), and finally found him racing through the crime serial Wanted at Headquarters (1920). The Atlantic could not keep him; he crossed it, settled in Los Angeles, and there, on 30 December 1947, the final curtain fell.
