Biography
Born Irene Frizzel in Chicago, Illinois, on September 5, 1887, Irene Fenwick was primarily a distinguished presence on the theatrical stage. Her foray into cinema began with THE WOMAN NEXT DOOR in 1915, a year that saw her complete three additional films. The following year, she appeared in A CONEY ISLAND PRINCESS. However, her talents found limited demand within the burgeoning film industry. After contributing to A GIRL LIKE THAT and THE SIN WOMAN in 1917, Irene gracefully exited the silver screen, having amassed a modest total of only seven films. Her true artistic home remained the stage, to which she enthusiastically returned, finding a profound connection and fulfillment that the transient world of filmmaking could not replicate. A notable chapter in her personal life included her marriage to the celebrated actor, Lionel Barrymore. Irene Fenwick passed away in Beverly Hills, California, on the poignant date of Christmas Eve, 1936, at the age of 49.
