Biography
On 15 October 1879, Newcastle-upon-Tyne welcomed a restless storyteller: Jack Brammall. Within a decade he had swapped the Tyne’s chill for grease-paint heat, stalking across early-cinema screens as the tormented gypsy in *The Wolf Man* (1915), growling prophecies as the thane’s nemesis in *Macbeth* (1916), and tripping into slapstick chaos in *The Fatal Glass of Beer* (1916). Audiences caught only those three flickers—then nothing. The cameras moved on; Brammall slipped back into English anonymity, his final scene unrecorded save for the year: 1955.
