Biography
Jack Gordon arrived in the world on 2 January 1904, amid the clang of New York’s elevated trains. Before he turned eleven he had already faced the camera, lending his wide-eyed gravity to the silent short *At the Cross Roads* (1914). After that single, early flicker of fame, he slipped from the screen’s grasp, leaving the brief 1914 reel as the lone celluloid witness to his childhood. Seventy years later, on 31 August 1974, his story closed quietly in Los Angeles County, California, far from the city where it first began.
