Biography

Before the talkies arrived, Jack Ridgeway had already etched his silhouette into the flickering dusk of silent cinema. In 1918 he stepped into the saffron-tinged mysticism of *The Soul of Buddha*, guiding audiences through incense-laden shadows; a year later he danced with mischief itself in *The Imp* (1919); and by 1921 he was navigating the narrow, gaslit alleys of *Little Italy*, where accordion sighs drifted past tenement windows. Three films, three short years—yet each frame still whispers his name.
