Biography
Silent-era screen presence Jane Maylianes slipped into audiences’ memories through three very different lenses: she survived the barricades of Robespierre’s Paris in 1914’s The Reign of Terror, traded barbs with Rigadin in the brisk salon farce Rigadin coiffeur pour dames a year later, and, a decade on, lingered like watercolor in the 1924 river-bank reverie The Swallow and the Titmouse.
