Biography
A crisp autumn day—2 October 1885—delivered Jean Peyrière to the world in Vesoul, Haute-Saône, France, and the curtain rose on a life spent in front of the camera. Silent-era audiences would later recognize him as the swashbuckling heart of The Three Musketeers (1912), the roguish charm of Le vert galant (1924), and the haunted soul in Le Juif errant (1926). Six decades and five days after his first breath, the final scene faded: 7 September 1965, Paris, where the city lights dimmed for him one last time.
