Biography
Born in Pécs on 17 November 1881, Jenõ Csapó stepped from the quiet streets of southern Hungary into the flicker of early cinema. Before the war swallowed the headlines, his face lit screens in Sárga csikó (1914) and the sweeping tragedy Bánk bán (1915). Off-camera, he twice shared his life with the same woman—first as Elza Bátori, later as Elza Báthory. His story ended just shy of his 33rd birthday, on 10 November 1914, somewhere amid the Serbian front.
