Biography
Before tango had even found its bandoneón, José Juan Podestá had already stepped in front of the crank-and-hand-crank cameras of Buenos Aires. In 1915 he breathed life into the ink-and-parchment patriots of Mariano Moreno y la revolución de Mayo, and two years later galloped across the pampas as the legendary payador in Santos Vega, sealing his name to the very first reels of Argentine cinema.
