Biography
Kálmán Horváth first drew breath on 16 October 1877 among the baroque façades of Győr, Hungary. Within three and a half decades he had slipped into the flickering new world of cinema, lending his presence to the 1912 thriller *A gyilkos*, the 1913 cavalry romance *Weisz Pista, a huszár*, and the 1914 costume fantasy *A hercegnő pongyolája*. When the curtain finally fell on his life, it was 26 December 1948, in the winter-lit capital of Budapest.
