Biography

Born under the gaslight of New Albany, Indiana, on 11 April 1868, Kathleen Kerrigan grew up to trade small-town quiet for the flicker of nickelodeon screens. Between 1914 and 1919 she breathed life into three now-cult silents—Samson, Her Bitter Cup and The Uplifters—writing as well as acting, shaping stories with the same steady hand that later signed scripts. Off-set she claimed veteran leading man Clay Clement as her husband. Seventy-one winters after her first curtain, she closed her eyes for good on 27 January 1957 in San Fernando, California, leaving behind a legacy etched in nitrate and nerve.
