Biography
New Orleans delivered L. Rogers Lytton onto the world’s stage on 9 April 1867, and by the time flickering nickelodeons gave way to feature-length storytelling he had become both the man in front of the lens and the mind behind it. Audiences felt his presence in the conniving twists of “The Fates and Flora Fourflush” (1914), winced at his courtroom tension in “The Third Degree” (1919), and warmed to the easy charm of “A Regular Girl” that same year. When the final curtain fell, it was New York City that claimed him back, on 9 August 1924, closing the book on a life spent conjuring silent-era magic.
