Biography
A crisp New-York morning, 8 January 1880, greeted the first breath of Marian Skinner, a girl who would grow up to animate the nickelodeon era with quick wit and sharper glances. By 1917 she had slipped into *Skinner’s Dress Suit*, stitching comedy and poise into every frame; a year later she walked among *Real Folks*, lending city-bred authenticity to the reels; and in 1919 she blazed across the screen as *The Spitfire of Seville*, fanning the story’s flames with a temper as vivid as the title. After the cameras cooled, she headed west, settling in San Francisco where, on 7 June 1963, the final curtain quietly fell.
