Biography
Born 18 May 1890 amid the green of Dungannon, Ireland, Mary Charleson stepped from the quiet countryside into the flicker of early Hollywood, lighting up the new art form with performances in The Golden Pathway and The Mystery of the Silver Skull, both released in 1913, and two years later in The Silent Accuser. Away from the camera she shared her life with fellow screen pioneer Henry B. Walthall. Her final curtain fell on 3 December 1961 in Los Angeles, California, closing a life that had helped shape the dawn of cinema.
