Biography
Max Agerty entered the world on 7 July 1875 in Germany, trading the Rhineland’s quiet streets for the flicker of silent-film sets. Within a single whirlwind year—1921—he both helmed and appeared in three features that stormed European cinemas: the outlaw drama *Banditen*, the seaside fantasy *Die Strandnixe*, and the folk-tinged tragedy *In einem kühlen Grunde*. Four and a half decades later, far from the klieg lights and clattering reels, he drew his last breath in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, during February 1967.
