Biography
Born among the cotton-mill chimneys of Stockport on 4 July 1888, Mollie Terraine swapped the grey of Greater Manchester for the silver of early British cinema. Within five hectic years she stepped in front of—and occasionally behind—the camera, steering performances in The Firm of Girdlestone and The Yoke (both 1915) and later gracing the melodrama of The Toilers (1919). When the lights dimmed she slipped from public view, ending her days quietly in Epsom, Surrey on 22 December 1963.
