Biography
Born in 1850, Ned Burton stepped onto the early-cinema stage when the medium itself was still learning to walk. Between 1918 and 1919 he anchored three lightning-rod silents—The Power and the Glory, Thunderbolts of Fate, and The Moral Deadline—bringing a veteran’s gravitas to the flickering new art form. His final curtain fell in New York City on 11 December 1922, closing a life bookended by the nineteenth century’s gaslights and the twentieth’s projector beams.
