Biography
Born under the tsarist winter of 1877, Nikolay Gorich stepped onto the screen while the old world was still gasping its last: in 1915 he stalked the gutters of Petersburg in *Peterburgskiye trushchobi*, three years later he lent his voice to the shattered romance of *Pesn lyubvi nedopetaya*, and by 1927 he faced the revolution’s iron toll in *Zhelezom i krovyu*. The cameras stopped rolling for good on 29 December 1949, closing the curtain on a career that had spanned czars, upheaval, and the birth of Soviet cinema.
