Biography
A crisp autumn day—26 October 1882—kicked off the life of Percy Standing in Lambeth, London. By the time silent-film audiences first caught sight of him, he had already honed a talent for slipping into other skins: a tortured doctor in *Life Without Soul* (1915), a heartsick husband in *Bonds of Love* (1919), and the cerebral sleuth opposite Holmes’s nemesis in *The Final Problem* (1923). The cameras eventually stopped rolling, and on 17 September 1950 the Californian foothills of Placer County became his final set.
