Biography
A restless talent of Australia’s silent era, Percy Walshe leapt onto screens at the dawn of feature filmmaking, first landing in the high-stakes boxing drama *In the Last Stride* (1916). Four years later he traded boxing gloves for farm boots, slipping into the comic chaos of *On Our Selection* (1920) and becoming part of the country’s first great cinematic success. He later chased folklore itself, starring in the eerie colonial tale *Fisher’s Ghost* (1924). Sydney claimed his final bow on 12 June 1931, closing the curtain on a career that helped shape Australia’s earliest movie myths.
