Biography
On 12 March 1869, Philip Bech entered the world, little knowing that celluloid would carry his name beyond the grave. He stepped before the camera for Denmark’s first science-fiction romp, *A Trip to Mars* (1918), slipped through the royal glades of *Elverhøj* (1910), and traded cherry-blossom intrigues in *Die weisse Geisha* (1926). Five days before what would have been his fifty-ninth birthday—8 March 1928—the curtain fell for the last time.
