Biography
A spring baby of 1884, Pierre Frondaie drew his first breath in Paris on 25 April and grew into the kind of restless spirit who collected careers the way others collect stamps: novelist, dramatist, sometime actor. Silent-era screens still whisper his name through three surviving films—The Woman and the Puppet and The Right to Love, both released in the feverish year 1920, and Fazil, spun eight years later in 1928. Off-stage he shared his life with Jeanne Loviton, the woman who became his wife. The final curtain fell on 25 September 1948 in Vaucresson, Hauts-de-Seine, where the city’s lights faded into suburban dusk.
