Biography
A Lancashire cotton-mill sky delivered Rae Ford on 14 August 1885 in Ancoats, Manchester. Within three decades she had swapped mill-smoke for klieg-lights, slipping in front of the camera for The Rivals in 1913 and following it a year later with the shadow-play drama At the Cross Roads. Her career flickered out early, but the prints remain. She died far from home, on 10 January 1925, by the waters of Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, New York.
