Biography
On the first day of May, 1878, Kentucky’s bluegrass welcomed Rex De Rosselli into the world. Within a few fast-moving decades he had slipped behind the flicker of early movie lamps, leaving footprints in more than one reel: the 1913 backwoods shivers of Howlin’ Jones, the 1914 pulse-racing rescue drama Rescued by Wireless, and the 1918 jungle peril of The Lion’s Claws. Between takes he sharpened plots on a typewriter, trading the quiet of the Ohio valley for the roar of silent-era sets. His final curtain fell on 21 July 1941 in East Saint Louis, Illinois, where the Mississippi breezes carried off the last echo of his name.
