Biography
Born beneath the maples of Grand Rapids on 7 November 1854, Riley Chamberlin traded Michigan winters for the flickering glow of early celluloid. Between 1912 and 1914 he slipped into three vastly different skins: a wanderer following His Winning Way, a shepherd beneath The Star of Bethlehem, and a servant-turned-hero in Mr. Cinderella. The curtain fell for good on 24 January 1917 in New Rochelle, New York, where the Hudson’s tides carried away one of silent film’s first dependable faces.
