Biography
April 27, 1882, brought Robert Schmidt into the world on a Copenhagen morning; the stage and screen would later bring him into ours. Over the span of three decades he slipped into other lives: the tropical heat of Tropernes Datter in 1917, the soot-and-sentiment lanes of David Copperfield in 1922, and the singing glow of Med fuld musik in 1933. When the curtain finally fell on November 17, 1941, the city that first watched him breathe took back his final breath, leaving the films to speak his immortality.
