Biography
A spring baby born in Witten on 15 May 1892, Tatjana Irrah stepped before the camera just as German cinema was learning to talk with its eyes. In the single year of 1916 she slipped into three wildly different skins: she tracked moonlit moorland terror in Der Hund von Baskerville, 3. Teil – Das unheimliche Zimmer, chased a glinting relic through the serial cliffhangers of Die silberne Kugel, and distilled heartbreak into Ein Blatt Papier. After that whirlwind of premieres she slipped from the spotlight, leaving the silver screen to remember her only in flickers. She died quietly in Essen on 13 January 1949, taking with her the echo of an era that had just begun to shine.
