Biography
A summer baby born along the Thames on 28 June 1878, Thomas R. Mills grew up amid Lambeth’s bustle and traded London fog for the hiss of klieg lights. Between takes he shaped performances both in front of and behind the camera, steering 1918’s whirlwind comedy *An American Live Wire* and its twin release *The Girl in His House*, then resurfacing nineteen years later as the deft hand guiding the glittering romantic farce *It’s Love I’m After*. Off-screen he shared his life with actress Mildred Meade, and after a career that spanned the silent era into talkies he took his final bow on 29 November 1953, quietly fading out in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles.
