Biography
Tony d'Algy was born in Angola, then a Portuguese colony, of a Spanish mother and Portuguese father. He played opposite Rudolph Valentino in Monsieur Beaucaire (1924) and A Sainted Devil (1924) in bit parts. Beginning in 1928, he worked in Spain (making such films as "La Mujer Soñada" and "Raza de Hidalgos"), France, and Belgium. In 1931, he hosted such visitors as Florencio Molina Campos (an Argentine cartoonist and painter), with Marcos Caplán (Argentine vaudeville producer), and Beatriz Costa (Portuguese actress and singer), among others, at Paramount Studios in Joinville, France (near Paris). D'Algy played the musical agent/lover of Amália Rodrigues in Fado, História d'uma Cantadeira (1947).
