Biography
A Manhattan Christmas present of 1889, William ‘Stage’ Boyd arrived already itching for footlights. By the dawn of talkies he had traded Broadway boards for camera arcs, slipping steel into The Locked Door (1929), brawling through The Spoilers (1930), and piloting serial cliff-hangers in The Lost City (1935). Off-screen he collected two last names—Joel and Christiansen—before his own ran out of time in Los Angeles on 20 March 1935, two months before his final reel reached theaters.
