Biography
On a summer day in 1874, Georgetown, Kentucky welcomed Anne Crawford into the world. She grew into a storyteller whose pen gave life to the stage and screen: her 1919 play The Blue Pearl shimmered first, followed swiftly by the 1920 Broadway hit Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch; fourteen years later she revived the same beloved characters for the 1934 screen adaptation. Off the page, she shared her life with educator Abraham Flexner. Anne’s final curtain fell on 11 January 1955 in Providence, Rhode Island.
